Canopy was formed in 2017, when we built our studio in Lower Parel, Mumbai. Over the years we’ve been fortunate to work with some very good clients, collaborators and artists. We’ve got a small team but we deliver big results.

Aalok Padhye
Co-Founder + Director
Award winning film editor, producer and drummer. Aalok likes the writing of Aaron Sorkin, the twenty minute long jams of the band Phish. He hopes that one day Manchester United will regain it’s lost glory.
Tanmay Bhattacherjee
Co-Founder + Director
Songwriter, Filmmaker, Composer and Sound Designer. Tanmay enjoys making complex meals that require days of planning and prep. He likes the writing of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and knows every Dave Matthews Band song.
Drona Acharya
Chief Engineer
Recording, Mixing and Mastering engineer. Drona likes Hamilton watches, spending time at his hotel in Matheran and the taste of lemon tarts. You can also find him live tweeting during Newcastle United matches.
Ritwik Palnitkar
Producer + Brand Lead
Film production specialist. Ritwik enjoys long road trips in search of local and unique food, much like his food idol Anthony Bourdain. He takes his labrador everywhere he goes.
Prashant Dogra
Engineer + Music Producer
Music producer, songwriter, engineer and line producer. Prashant has a passion for desserts and a love for all things with clean and tidy design. He is also our in house anime expert.
Apoorv Mishra
Cinematographer + Drone Pilot
Cinematographer, all round gear nerd. Apoorv loves all things cinema. You can catch him at film screenings and on his Twitch gaming stream playing Valorant.
A bit about the founders.
Canopy Media reflects the journey of cousins Tanmay Bhattacherjee and Aalok Padhye, from college musicians to founders of a full service media production company.
Their musical journey began during their college years when they were part of the groundbreaking band "Something Relevant."
From intimate venues to prestigious stages like the Java Jazz Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, they honed their skills as performers and storytellers, also releasing two full length studio albums along the way.
Transition to Audio Production
After years of touring and performing with several live acts, Tanmay and Aalok decided to channel their creativity into audio production.
With a shared love for sound and technology, they set up their own studio and immersed themselves in the world of music composition, sound design, mixing, and audio post-production.
Their expertise and dedication quickly gained recognition, leading to collaborations with filmmakers, OTT platforms, and television networks.
Navigating Through Challenges
The Covid-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges to the entertainment industry, forcing Tanmay and Aalok to adapt and innovate.
Amidst the chaos, they were in the midst of working on the sound post-production of a major animation series.
Determined to overcome obstacles, they pioneered new workflows, embraced remote collaboration tools, and reimagined production processes to meet the demands of a rapidly changing landscape.
Expansion into Video Production
As the world gradually emerged from the pandemic, Tanmay and Aalok saw an opportunity to expand their creative horizons.
Drawing from the lessons learned during the crisis, they diversified their offerings to include video production and post-production services.
From crafting compelling brand films and advertisements to providing end-to-end video solutions for events, films, and OTT shows, Canopy Media aims to become leaders in visual storytelling.
